WCTC was the previous radio home of Dave "Madhouse" Marthouse, as well as Jay Sorensen not too long ago. It was one of the original Greater Media properties; New Brunswick was the company headquarters until just a few years ago. I give them credit for giving it a try, but their signal just doesn't cut it.

At 10 a.m., after "The Morning Show with Jack Ellery," WCTC, owned by Greater Media, will be broadcasting oldies for the rest of the day... Wonder if the move is in response to the flip of WBUD to sports earlier this year? He added "it's the first time someone has talked about this radio station in a century." He noted the GM will be on the air at a quarter to ten "with a special announcement". I always liked producing for him because he always brought me in the studio to talk to me on the air. Very nice guy and sorry to see that he's out of a job.

He was the only one who was kept by Greater Media at WCTC. WMTR also owned by Greater Media in New Jersey, changed from a local oldies format to "good time oldies" last night at Midnight. The staff with the exception of Chris Edwards the morning man and program director were let go yesterday. They were also told not to reenter the building. By the way, for years WCTC retained board ops but that is no longer the case. They were let go too except for the morning show. The weekend brokered programs will continue. Your Signature ...

In the early '90s, a consultant was brought in to take the station from local/full service to news/talk. They never did really well in the book after that. On 1450, the third worst of the "graveyard" frequencies. (1230 and 1340) being the worst. Why, sounds exactly like the King City AM up the street from me at KRKC. Yep ... it's Jones Oldies! For free! 2 minutes of spots per hour to the network. Otherwise, lock the doors and everyone go home. In STEREO on the world wide web! At 32khz! (the second worst bitrate going ... the lowest you can get stereo.) 32 kbps. It ain't CBS-FM or KRTH-101, but it's WCTC. Aw, it's "Stormy" by the Classics IV! One of my favorite songs. Let's see ....I've heard this song today five times ... on everybody elses' radio station. Man, I like radio! Way to go, Greater Media! Leading the way ... for Central N.J. Unbelievable. They could have at least called it "Magic 1450." Damn, even the receptionist is doing "traffic." And ... dead air for a minute. But the gardening show lives! Take this worthless waste of irrelevant spectrum off the air. It won't help WILM any, but, it's a start. PS - Who is this carnival barker-turned-baseball-play-by-play guy? He is, to coin a phrase ...
